Introduction
Camp Wilson is a more remote location linked to the main park by a one-mile hiking trail or a short drive on Gunston Road. This camp facility offers full service restroom facilities including showers and a dishwashing area centrally located to the camp sites. It also offers an amphitheater and open play field which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be shared by all campers. Each camping area contains picnic tables, a grill and a fire ring or a grill/fire ring combination.
Pohick Bay Regional Park has a variety of hiking trails suited for all skill levels easily accessible by all group camping areas. All guests utilizing our group camping areas should respect and follow NOVA Parks group camping rules and regulations and the guidelines set forth by Leave No Trace (LNT) principles.
Pohick Bay Regional Park's location allows campers to enjoy the natural beauty of the Mason Neck Peninsula and Pohick Bay as well as the numerous nearby attractions of Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Planned Camp Menu
NOTE: We strongly encourage Bears, Webelos I and Webelos II Scouts to use a Scout Mess Kit for meals. This prepares the Scout for their eventual transition to the Troop where they will no longer use paper products for meals. Scouts will learn to clean their mess kits and properly store them. A set of reusable metal silverware is also encouraged.
The suggested mess kit style is similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Camping-Cookware-5-Piece-Aluminum/dp/B0009PUR4A/
Remember, there are much fancier ones on the market, but simpler is often better. These can also be found at your local Walmart, Target or the Scout Shop.
No disposable cups will be provided at camp. Scouts must have a reusable water bottle and cup for meals.

BSA Camping Policy
The Boy Scouts of America has established the following guidelines for its members’ participation in camping activities:
- Overnight camping by Tiger Cub, Wolf, and Bear Cub Scout dens as dens is not approved, and certificates of liability insurance will not be provided by the Boy Scouts of America.
- Tiger Cubs, with their adult partner, may participate in boy-parent excursions, day camps, pack overnighters, council-organized family camping, or resident camping.
- Tiger Cubs, Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts may participate in a resident overnight camping program operating under BSA National Camping School– trained leadership and managed by the council.
- A Webelos Scout may participate in overnight den camping when supervised by an adult. In most cases, the Webelos Scout will be under the supervision of his parent or guardian. It is essential that each Webelos Scout be under the supervision of a parent-approved adult. Joint Webelos den/troop campouts including the parents of the Webelos Scouts are encouraged to strengthen ties between the pack and troop. Den leaders, pack leaders, and parents are expected to accompany the boys on approved trips.
